Everything Adds Up
Showering with a partner or keeping the lights turned off can reap a plethora of benefits — though we seldom think of its effect on climate change.
These actions are two of the 24 suggestions offered by the folks at We Add Up, an environmentally conscious apparel campaign devoted fighting the war on global warming.
“The idea is to bring the conversation to the street,” says Jill Palermo, co-founder of We Add Up who views the t-shirts fundamental visual tools. Jill and her mother Judy Pezdir are the same duo responsible for the already popular I’m Organic campaign, but as climate-related dialogue has begun to heat up, Palermo says she and her mother have felt a personal obligation to become more involved.
Each t-shirt is branded with a number that symbolizes a place in the line of those who are working toward carbon reduction. The t-shirts also advertise ideas such as flying less, buying locally and demanding change. The ever-embraced idea of showering together can reduce individual water usage by as much 22 percent.
Over 30 schools across the U.S. have signed on to sell We Add Up products as part of their fundraising efforts and will receive 20 percent of total sales. For more information, or to join the count, visit weaddup.com.
